Hamish Morrison joins the Hawks

Shaun Saunders has further strengthened his Whitehawk squad with the signing of Haywards Heath Town full-back Hamish Morrison.

Morrison, 22, reunites with Saunders after spending the previous three seasons as The Blues’ starting right-back.

A product of Brighton’s youth academy, Morrison was part of The Seagulls setup between 2008-2018, earning a Carabao Cup appearance in the process.

Morrison then signed professional forms with SPL side Hamilton Academical, and played there for the 2018/19 season.

He then returned to Sussex, joining Haywards Heath in the Summer of 2019 where he later played under Saunders right up until the manager’s recent departure in January.

Helping to guide his now ex-Haywards Heath cohort toward the playoffs in the recently concluded campaign, Morrison scored deep into stoppage time of the playoff final last week at Herne Bay to force the tie to extra-time, later resulting in a penalty shootout.

But the hosts would be victorious, sealing a 6-5 win on penalties to send the north Kent outfit into the Isthmian League – Premier Division at The Blues’ expense.

Bowing out with a goal, Morrison becomes Saunders’ second signing of the Spring after the arrival of forward Rob O’Toole from Horsham last Saturday.
