Charlie Lambert is a Hawk once more

Shaun Saunders has made his third signing as Whitehawk manager with the addition of forward Charlie Lambert from Eastbourne Borough.

Lambert, 22, is no stranger to the Hawks, having made eight league appearances under Ross Standen last season, registering one goal in the process.

The attack-minded player, who can play as a centre forward or a right-sided winger, impressed last year at The Enclosed Ground before briefly heading back to Borough, where he would soon be sent out on loan again with Three Bridges the February destination.

A further eleven Isthmian League South East appearances for The Bridges, assisting them to a 14th place finish, Lambert departs Borough after a two-season stay at Priory Lane.

Signed initially from Southern Combination side Peacehaven & Telscombe in September 2020, he built a reputation for his pace, power and finishing as a move up the divisions to National League South was later confirmed.

But after a 2021/22 campaign that featured two loans and predominantly Sussex Senior Cup football for Borough, Lambert swaps Eastbourne for Whitehawk as the forward is eager to hit the ground running.

A fledgling talent oozing potential, Saunders adds to his attacking options following the arrival of Rob O’Toole from Horsham.

Lambert becomes the third signing of the Saunders era after full-back Hamish Morrison was announced last week from Haywards Heath Town.
