Hawks Battle To Draw In Kent
Sevenoaks Town 1-1 Whitehawk
Whitehawk battled to a 1-1 draw away against Sevenoaks Town in a relatively even game, with both sides matching each other well.
The Hawks had an opening chance after three minutes as Lucas Rodrigues used his rapid pace to break down the right and cross towards an incoming Henry Muggeridge, but the ball jut evaded the skipper at full stretch. Rodrigues continued to look lively throughout the half and had another decent chance after 28 minutes following a run by Dave Martin. His shot was blocked and then saved by keeper Ben Bridle-Card.
The Hawks dominated possession with Lopata impressing in bringing the ball out from the back. As half time approached, the Hawks nearly took the lead when Martin created an opening for himself, but his low shot hit the inside of the post and bounced out. In added time the Hawks finally got the goal their performance deserved when Martin’s cross was converted at the far post by Rodrigues, for his first goal of the season.
The home side came out for the second half on the front foot and the Hawks looked to have weathered the pressure until Sevenoaks substitute Tyrell Richardson-Brown brought the home side level with an easy tap-in at close range after a cross from the left. Chances and major events were few and far between but as the game was entering the closing stages, Alfie Rogers had a shot deflected narrowly wide. From the resulting corner, a piledriver of a shot from John Paul Kissock was blocked and then cleared by the Sevenoaks defence. The Oaks could have won it right at the death, but Frankie Sawyer could only head over the bar. In the end, a draw was a fair reflection of the match overall.
