Whitehawk add forward Chris Smith to squad

Whitehawk are delighted to announce the acquisition of former Horsham forward, Chris Smith.

Revered in the yellow shirt of Horsham for three years, centre-forward Smith decided to call time on his Hornets career in November, prompting manager Dom di Paola to say “it’s the end of another era”.

An integral piece to the side that gained promotion to the Isthmian Premier League in the 2018/19 season, Smith found the net on a consistent basis alongside strike partner and current Hawks captain, Rob O’Toole.

Hampered by injuries and a lack of playing time, Smith decided to depart the eloquently named Camping World Community Stadium in search of new beginnings. In Whitehawk, he has found just that.

Joining Horsham from South Park in 2018, where he scored 44 times in 102 appearances, Smith swiftly became a household name in Horsham, scoring 17 league goals that pipped O’Toole’s 14 for the club’s Golden Boot.

After a near 150 appearances for The Hornets it was away to Carlisle in the FA Cup that would provide Smith with the perfect farewell.

And onto Whitehawk, where Smith becomes the eleventh fresh face to hold a shirt in front of the Hawk mural. A rebuild near completion, the start of the campaign draws ever closer…
