Standing Oration!

Stand-up Comedy and music shines in aid of the Whitehawk Foodbank last night.

A near sell out audience on a freezing cold Wednesday evening at the Hawks Clubhouse, saw a brilliant three hours of poetry, topical comedy, music from Worthing’s third best gothic folk combo, and a visit from representatives of Montenegrin football side FC Real Kakrc – sponsors of STAND UP FOR WHITEHAWK!, a very special evening in aid of the Whitehawk Foodbank.

The event, put together in partnership with Whitehawk Football Club, Hawks In The Community, Your League TV and The Future is Unwritten, was hosted by stand-up comedian, football writer, broadcaster and life-long Watford fan Eddie Brimson.

The night featured comedy and poetry from legendary punk poet Attila The Stockbroker, a superb presentation of some of his brilliant images by Hawk’s Ultra and top photographer JJ Waller, music from Gothic folk combo Batsfeet, and a very inspiring speech made by the Chairman and representatives of FC Real Kakrc. ‘The Goats’…

The free event required a donation to the foodbank for entry, and as a consequence over eight crates of much needed food and provisions were collected, as well as £400 in cash donations.

Hawks Head of Commercial Kevin Miller said,

“I’d like to thank the guys from The Future Is Unwritten, all the acts who donated their time for free, and most importantly the audience, who were so generous in bringing so much to help the Foodbank this Christmas. This is the first time that we have hosted an event such as this, and it proved that the club can be a real destination for comedy and music. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, and a massive thanks to those who helped put it together! What a fantastic evening!”

The Whitehawk foodbank is a project founded by St Cuthman’s Church, Emmanuel Church (Marina) and St Peter’s Church, working together towards stopping hunger in Whitehawk and the wider East Brighton area.
