Isthmian League

Match Preview | Potters Bar Town (H)

And so, as we reach the end of April, another campaigns comes to a close.

It’s been a season that both began and ended brilliantly, with the winter months proving to be the most difficult patch of them all.

But as we welcome Potters Bar Town to The Enclosed Ground on Saturday afternoon, looking to end on an eight-game unbeaten run, the Hawks can hold their heads up high, shed a smile and be proud of their performances in their first season back in the Isthmian Premier.

The Opposition

For a side that earned their first point of the campaign in their seventh match of the season, The Scholars can be relatively pleased that their Isthmian Premier status was comfortably assured for the next campaign.

They’re a team that have managed to pick up points at regular intervals. When bad form strikes, it doesn’t set in. Only at the very beginning and the very end of this season have they struggled for points, as they arrive on Saturday with just the one win from their previous nine league matches.

But with Max Mitchell confirmed as their new head coach earlier this month, they’ll be hoping for a strong summer and an even stronger start to the next campaign if they are to push on as a club.

One to Watch | Brandon Adams

The 26-year-old centre-forward has been the best of the Potters Bar attack with 18 goals in all competitions this season, all of which have come in the league. He’s record four braces in addition to a 26-minute hat-trick back in September, and has been pivotal in providing the goals.

A product of QPR’s academy, he enjoyed a brief spell in Malaysia with Perlis FA, before returning to the UK where he has since starred for Linfield, Enfield Town, Ware, Royston Town and Cheshunt, ahead of his recent move to The Lantern Stadium in August of last year.

Previous Meetings

Whitehawk’s record against Potters Bar Town in recent years hasn’t made the finest of reading, though the last match at The Enclosed Ground in 2019 did result in a 1-0 win courtesy of a late Lucas Rodrigues goal.

But that’s sandwiched in between three trips to The Lantern Stadium, with the Hawks defeated in this season’s reverse fixture, and last year’s Velocity Cup semi-final. A draw was earned in 2018, however, with Harry Shooman collecting the goal.
