Isthmian League

RESULT | U18 WHITEHAWK 4-1 THREE BRIDGES

The Young Hawks won the battle of the top two, but not after withstanding a second half onslaught from Bridges.

Hawks took control of this vital match from the outset, with assured finishes from Ricardo Silva and Jack Duckett putting them two up in the first 20 minutes. But by half time it was 2-1 and the visitors made a very different game of it playing downhill in the second half. Some valiant defending by the whole side, great saves from Elliot Dailly and the crossbar kept the Hawks lead intact until Ricardo Silva broke away to increase the Hawks’ lead with our first shot of the second half, four minutes from the end of normal time. The ref was enjoying it so much he added eight minutes, just leaving time for Will Gilbert to add a very late fourth.

Hawks have three games left and go to Burgess Hill Town on Thursday. The league title is still in Worthing’s hands, if they take maximum points from their last four games.

The Young Hawks also have a County Cup final against Hastings United on 6th April to look forward to.
