Report | Whitehawk 1-1 Hashtag United

Whitehawk were forced to settle for a point on Saturday afternoon as a late Alex Teniola equaliser earned a share of the spoils for Hashtag United.

In a cagey opening of few clear-cut opportunities, The Tags had more of the ball and more of the possession, but were the first to concede after 26 minutes.

Ben Pope played a delicate, defence-splitting pass through the visiting defence to set Imran Kayani on his way, and he found the corner with a beautiful finesse finish that left James Philp with absolutely no chance.

The Hawks then took control of the game, playing the ball about freely and testing Philp with a firmly-struck drive, but the ‘keeper was able to palm it away as half time arrived.

What followed was 45 minutes of banality. Both sides never really leaving second gear, the Hawks were evidently content in holding onto their goal advantage.

But that lack of a second goal proved their downfall, as a late header from Temiola crashed off the post and found the netting with 90 minutes played, with both sides going home with a deserved point.
