MIND-BLOWING!

Whitehawk FC and Dulwich Hamlet FC SHOUTOUT to Mental Health Charity MIND

SHOUTOUT FOR MENTAL HEALTH, The pioneering partnership between Whitehawk FC and Dulwich Hamlet FC to highlight mental health issues and raise funds for two local Mind charity branches, concluded this week with the presentation of over £3,000 in donations, raised by fans of both clubs.

With over six on-line events during the lockdown period in February, the two clubs – fronted by ex-Hawk’s legend and current Dulwich striker Danny Mills, joined forces to provide fans with some brilliant interactive events including a football quiz, a tv show, a radio request show and a special zoom evening with Danny and some very special guests.

This unique and inspirational collaboration has raised a total of £3,102, which will be shared between Mind in Brighton and Mind in Lambeth & Southwark.

Danny Mills has been overwhelmed by the response to the campaign. He said:

“When we first started this campaign I would never have imagined it would be so successful. In our very first meeting I said I would be happy to raise £500 so to raise £3,000 is phenomenal. This campaign wouldn’t have been what it was without the hard work of the organisers behind the scenes. Both clubs are a credit to Non-League Football. Massive thank you to the Mind charity for supporting us and I’m so happy the money will go back into the local communities of Brighton and Lambeth & Southwark to support the fantastic work that they do. This is just the beginning!”

For Whitehawk, Chairman Andy Schofield said;

“The Shoutout campaign was really successful – putting the spotlight on mental health, during a difficult time for all of us. Whitehawk Football Club are delighted to have helped raise this cash for Mind, to help those on the front line.”

Presentations were made to the two respective branches this week – At Champion Hill, home of Dulwich Hamlet FC, striker Danny Mills posed with Alastair Smith-Agbaje
Chief Executive Lambeth and Southwark Mind and Anna Minton, Chair of the Trustees.

Alistair said:

“Anna and I, were delighted to meet Danny and Rob at Dulwich Hamlet FC’s ground this week for the photo shoot. It was my second visit to the ground in many years.  Anna Minton, our chair of trustees for Lambeth and Southwark Mind, is a fan of the club with her family, living in walking distance from the ground. We are overwhelmed by the response to this brilliant campaign, and we look forward to meeting everyone concerned very soon!

In Brighton, Hawks Head of Commercial & Marketing Kevin Miller was joined by current Hawks star Adam El-Abd, for the photo-shoot.

A spokesperson for Mind in Brighton and Hove said,

“Thank you so much to Whitehawk FC and Dulwich Hamlet FC for raising funds for Mind in Brighton and Hove through this exciting event. We are very grateful for their support – It has been a fantastic campaign! The donations collected will help us to maintain and develop the services we offer the local community.”

It is hoped that the SHOUTOUT campaign will continue to highlight Mental Health issues during the 21/22 season.
