Hawks Turnaround Continues
Whitehawk FC’s resurgence has been nothing short of remarkable, following a turbulent period earlier this year. After former manager Shaun Saunders’ unexpected departure in May, citing personal and family reasons, the club was left facing a challenging situation. With no manager, players, or backroom staff secured for the new season, the timing could not have been worse.
Saunders’ exit came as a complete shock to the club, particularly given the success he achieved during his tenure. Under his leadership, Whitehawk FC enjoyed numerous accomplishments, and his contribution to the club will not be forgotten. The club wishes him the best in his future endeavours, recognising his place as one of Whitehawk’s most successful managers.
A New Era Under Ross McNeilly and David Altendorff
However, the club wasted no time in regrouping. The appointment of a new management team, led by Ross McNeilly and David Altendorff, has sparked a transformation both on and off the pitch. While the early weeks proved challenging as they began assembling a completely new squad, their efforts have already begun to bear fruit.
Injury setbacks and early difficulties were to be expected with such a major overhaul, but McNeilly and Altendorff’s vision quickly took shape. By integrating a new training regime and fitness program—one which has been praised by the players—the foundation for success was laid. And now, those efforts are paying off.
Back-to-Back Home Wins Boost Confidence
The Hawks’ recent performances speak for themselves. A hard-fought home victory against high-flying Potters Bar last Saturday followed an impressive win over Cray Valley PM the week before. These back-to-back successes have propelled Whitehawk FC up the table, and the squad is quickly establishing itself as a serious contender in the division.
The resilience and determination shown by the players reflect the leadership and commitment of the new management team. With each passing game, the Hawks are steadily growing stronger, transforming from a side in turmoil to one that is becoming a force to be reckoned with.
