Hawks Start 2020 With Win
Whitehawk 3-0 Hythe Town
Whitehawk started 2020 in great style after a 3-0 win at home against Hythe Town, extending the Hawks unbeaten run to eight games.
The Hawks made a fast start with Connor Tighe opening the scoring with under two minutes on the clock, drilling home a low Lucas Rodrigues cross past a helpless Will Godmon in the Hythe goal. The early goal set the tone for the Hawks who dominated from the kick off and they did have chances to increase their lead through Henry Muggeridge in the 20th minute and Connor Tighe who fired wide his chances of a second goal of the half following a knock down from Ahmed Abdulla.
After the restart, the game continued much the same with Whitehawk dominating, not letting Hythe get a look into the game at all and the Hawks doubled their lead after 64 minutes, with a Connor Tighe delivery to the near post finding Ahmed Abdulla who headed in off the post for his 2nd goal in 2 games. The game continued to lack much in the form of entertainment, likely because the visitors offered so little, but they finally managed a shot on target after 75 minutes through substitute Alex Flisher who forced a good save from Hawks keeper James Broadbent. The game was sealed in the 94th minute through substitute Rhyle Ovenden, who struck a great finish from 15 yards out after Duane Ofori-Acheampong forced Cannons keeper Godmon into a good save, earning the Hawks a 7th win in their last 8 games.
