Players kick a ball again

The first tentative steps on the road to the return of football were taken today when some of the squad took part in small group sessions under the direction of manager Jude Macdonald.

Following Sussex FA guidance to maintain social distancing, two groups of five players went through 90 minutes of drills on the adjoining Brighton College pitches, after driving to the ground in their kit.

Hawks manager Jude Macdonald explained: “These sessions were as much for me as they were for the lads. The full squad aren’t coming back yet. It was just a few players who had shown an interest in having a run out. It was great to get out there, kick a ball again, and start to get back to something that feels like football.”

Since the last Hawks game on the 7th March, the 8-1 win over Three Bridges, the players have been maintaining fitness by working on their own routines in isolation.
