Manager Update
To our supporters,
It has been a few weeks since my last update and with us starting pre-season training in June I’m keen to update you further.
PRE-SEASON
Pre-season is well under way and the games so far have been competitive and a great exercise in building fitness, player relationships and developing our own style of play. We have three games left vs Ashford, Worthing and Maidstone and it’s important we start building a winning mentality to take us into next season.
Thank you to all the fans who have come to watch us so far.
STAFF UPDATES
The team at Whitehawk have worked tirelessly throughout May and June to ensure we are well prepared for preseason and I am extremely thankful for their work behind the scenes to improve communications and our sports science, training facilities and the pitch.
We have added GPS Vests as part of our plans to enhance Strength & Conditioning at the club.
We’ve also welcomed Joe Pope in a player recruitment role. Some of you may know Joe from his Off The Line blog [click here], and he comes with a wealth of knowledge in non-league football. Joe has been supporting our recruitment and will do so for the coming season.
We’re continuing to develop strong links with Dale Hurley and his U18 squad, and have had a number train with us already.
TEAM UPDATES
Myself and Dave Altendorff have focused our energy into recruitment and we’re now in talks with the final additions to what I feel, is a very exciting and talented squad. We currently have 17 players signed for next season and have a few more in preseason training with us. We can welcome Imran back for another season, as well as the additions of Greg Luer, Etienne Frimpong, Jerry O’Sullivan, Zaki Oualah, Harry Hoath and Moe Shubbar.
We’re still in the market for one or two positions as we take our time to recruit the right players. We need players that can see the direction we’re going in and want to be here for the right reasons. I’m someone who will always look at things in a positive light and I feel with those leaving, it has given us an opportunity to build a side that reflects our vision for Whitehawk FC.
Lots more work is going on behind the scenes and I’m super excited for our fans to see what the future holds both on and off the pitch.
I look forward to meeting meeting more of you in the coming pre-season games and it has been great to meet some of you so far.
