Recap
Whitehawk made it 6 league wins in a row for the first time since 2013 with a 3-1 victory over struggling Ramsgate.
It took 13 minutes for the game to have a chance and it came from the visitors after a dangerous header from Kane Rowland was well stopped by Hawks keeper James Broadbent. Had he have scored, what happened 6 minutes later might not have as the Hawks opened the scoring after a well timed through ball from David Martin found Lucas Rodrigues who coolly struck past an outstretched Jonathan Miles. The second goal came just 60 seconds later as Rodrigues doubled his tally and the Hawks’ lead, running through the Ramsgate defence, round the keeper and tapped into an empty net. Whitehawk dominated the rest of the half with the Rams offering next to nothing in attack, though they’d have been happy to go into the half just 2-0 down, with decent Hawks chances from Henry Muggeridge and Duane Ofori-Acheampong narrowly missing the target.
Ramsgate had an early chance after the break with their top scorer Kane Rowland getting through on goal, with his attempt being well saved by Broadbent. They did manage to get a goal back however in the 67th minute with Tyrell Mitford, who only came on as a substitute 2 minutes previously, scoring a nice finish after connecting to a well struck cross. Whitehawk’s 2 goal margin was restored just four minutes later with The Rams failing to clear a David Martin corner with an ensuing scramble allowing Kacper Lopata to smash home. A few half-hearted chances from Ramsgate followed but the Hawks did enough to see out the game and earn their 6th straight league win.
