Whitehawk Secure Last-Minute 3-2 Victory at Nyewood Lane
Whitehawk secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Bognor Regis Town on Saturday afternoon, with Ola Wasiri Williams’ stoppage-time winner sealing an unforgettable triumph.
First Half: Early Breakthrough
The Hawks took the lead in the 10th minute when Charlie Walker coolly slotted home a penalty, sending Ryan Hall the wrong way after Callum Barlow was bundled over in the box. Whitehawk continued to press, with Imran Kayani and Barlow combining well to create opportunities. Hall was called into action again, denying Barlow’s effort in the 26th minute.
Bognor had spells of possession but struggled to break through a solid Hawks defense. The half ended with Whitehawk deservedly leading 1-0.
Second Half: A Rollercoaster of Goals
Whitehawk doubled their advantage just after the break. Callum Barlow netted in the 49th minute, slamming the ball home after Kayani’s cutback created the chance. The Hawks looked in control, but Bognor clawed their way back into the game with two quick goals.
In the 67th minute, Tommy-Lee Higgs produced a stunning strike into the top corner to reduce the deficit. Moments later, Jasper Mather capitalized on a defensive lapse to level the score at 2-2.
Late Drama: Williams at the Death
The final stages were tense, with both teams pushing for the winner. Jasper Sheik made a huge save in the 90th minute to keep Whitehawk level, denying a close-range effort. Bognor’s Spencer Spurway was then sent off for a second yellow card, adding to the drama.
Deep into stoppage time, Ola Wasiri Williams emerged as the hero. In the 99th minute, Williams rifled the ball home to spark wild celebrations among the traveling Hawks fans and secure a 3-2 victory.
