Wealdstone FC 0 – 2 Whitehawk FC
A dominant showing today and against a side with very good recent form.
This win keeps Whitehawk in the last playoff place and with a buffer of 4 points – with 2 games to play. One win from two games will see Whitehawk make the playoffs, a season after narrowly avoiding relegation
Whitehawk, who started strongly on a sunny day and on a good surface in front of a crowd of 814, had two great chances, one from Scott Neilson hitting the cross bar – but it would not go in. Within the same minute Danny Mills had a headed goal disallowed – not sure why. Then Wealdstone had a little bit of pressure where Craig Ross made a brilliant save and the follow up by Scott McGliesh hit the post.
Wealdstone had a goal disallowed and 4 minutes later on 41 minutes Sam Gargan got the final touch to put the Hawks ahead – Danny Mills, with the assist, celebrated so much that he was credited with the goal by the tannoy announcer and the next days press!
Whitehawk contained the home side and continued to have much of the play in the second half. Both sides had goals disallowed. The game was put beyond doubt with about 10 minutes to go – substitute Jake Robinson has been on the field less than 5 minutes before a good surging run from David Ijaha fed Danny Mills whose pass across goal was perfectly timed to give Jake Robinson a pretty easy tap-in.
Other results today tended to favour Whitehawk and …. 1 win from 2 … for the playoffs.
