Whitehawk go to Braintree Town tonight (Tuesday) knowing that only three points will do in their battle with the drop.

The Hawks drew with the Essex outfit back in August to pick up a rare point, and go to The Ironmongery Direct Stadium on the back of a great win against Welling United on Saturday.

Having spent well over half the game with ten men, Elliot Benyon’s goal within seconds of him coming off the bench proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win against the play-off hopefuls.

However, the Iron need the points themselves if they are to gate-crash the top seven as the National League South season reaches its climax.

Brad Quinton’s side come into the game on the back of consecutive wins against Concord Rangers and then Hungerford Town, and will start as favourites to make it three wins in a row.

And Hawks boss Steve King knows his side will face a tough test tonight.

“We go into the game at full strength and we know only a win will do at this stage of the season,” said King.

“But we are in great form, and really looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of us.

“Braintree are having a good season and have been around the play-offs all season and need the win as much as us for different reasons, so it is going to be a tough game.”

Kick off is at 7:45 in Essex, with regular updates coming via our Twitter throughout the game.
