James joined the Hawks for the fourth time for the start of the 20-21 season having had a break from the game. He first signed on loan and scored on his debut in the FA Vase in October 2010. He joined permanently in September 2011, scoring twice on his debut in the first ten minutes and going on to be top scorer in our promotion winning side. He also played regularly during our season in the Isthmian Premier in 2018-19.

James was at Brighton & Hove Albion as a youngster before being spotted by Bristol Rovers while captaining England FA Schools. He also played for the British Colleges team. He scored 26 goals for Bognor Regis Town in 16-17 as they won promotion to National League South. His brother Tommy had 3 spells with the Hawks and his father Frank played for the club in 1983.
