Recap
Whitehawk Under 18’s FA Youth Cup dreams were dashed after losing on penalties to Dorking
Wanderers in the First Qualifying Round.
Demas Ramsis cancelled out Josh Taylor’s effort in the second half as the tie finished 1-1 after
normal time, with Josh Barnett saving three Hawks penalties in the shoot-out as the Surrey side
progressed.
Chances were few and far between in the first half at the TerraPura Ground, with Billie Clark seeing an effort saved by Barnett before a long range effort from the visitors clipped the outside of the post. Barnett ensured the score would remain goalless going into half time, turning away Josh Paine’s effort before the break before Paine linked up well with Ramsis only to fire narrowly wide early in the second period.
However, it was Dorking who went ahead after the hour when Taylor broke through the Hawks
defence, and one on one with Campbell fired past the keeper and into the bottom corner.
Del Tobias’ youngsters looked to get back into the game, with Ramsis heading wide of the far post
before a double change appeared to inject new life into the side.
And just four minutes from time the young Hawks got the equaliser they deserved. Ramsis pressed
high after a short goal kick and won possession before slotting away from Barnett from ten yards.
So it was onto penalties – and both teams missed their first two efforts before Oliver Hudson, Alex
imam and Oliver Allen converted for Dorking to beat the Hawks 3-1 in the shoot-out.
