Kit’s a Wonderful Life!

HAWKS UNVEIL PIONEERING ‘ECO-KIT’ MADE FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES

Whitehawk Football Club and specialist sportswear company Hope & Glory Sportswear announce a ground-breaking partnership that will see the Hawks play their next two seasons in unique home and away kits made from recycled plastic bottles.

The company has also committed to plant one tree for every Hawks’ home and away ‘EcoKit’ purchased, thanks to their partnership with not for profit organisation One Tree Planted

Both the shirt and shorts are made from rPET fabric, (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) which is made from recycled plastic bottles that have been melted down to produce a fine yarn, creating a lower environmental impact.

Every shirt is manufactured using a piece of fabric made from the equivalent of approximately 16 plastic bottles.

HERE’S HOW…

The initial two-year partnership will also include training and leisurewear, available on line www.whitehawkfc.com/shop and at the Hawks new Club Superstore at the TerraPura Ground.

Whitehawk’s Head of Commercial & Marketing Kevin Miller said:  “We are delighted to welcome Hope & Glory to the club. We’re all looking forward to get back to playing and watching football again. I know that players and fans will love the new Ecokits!”

He added: “We’re all trying hard to take a greater responsibility for the world in which we live, and this superb partnership makes a really positive statement, aligning perfectly with our ethos and commitment to our community.”

Ric Dennis, Owner of Hope & Glory said: “We are delighted to be the new Technical Kit Supplier of Whitehawk FC.  We have worked hard on bringing our EcoKit to the table over the past 18 months and Whitehawk FC are a perfect match that shares our views on sustainability. We hope that the kits we produce together will be well received by all the fans and the partnership will be successful both on and off the pitch.”

Hawks’ Chairman Andy Schofield said:  “The EcoKit is a great idea.  From the feel and look of it, you wouldn’t know it was made from plastic bottles. It’s an important statement about our commitment to the environment. Our ground is right next to the South Downs National Park, so you couldn’t get a better football club to be involved in a project like this.”

The Hawks Isthmian League South East campaign is expected to begin on August 14
