Pioneering Hawks In The Community initiative set up in partnership with The Ageing Well Brighton & Hove Festival and Impact Initiatives

The Hawks In The Community programme – Whitehawk Football Club’s joint community partnership with The Crew Club, Your League TV, Pleece & Co and VYD CIC, are launching a pioneering project in association with Impact Initiatives and Ageing Well Brighton & Hove.

Whitehawk Legends is an opportunity for people over 50 living in the Whitehawk & Bristol Estates to visit the club on match days and share stories – of the club and of the area – before Whitehawk FC home matches, starting on the Club’s Non-League Day FA Trophy match with Romford on Saturday, October 12, from 12:30pm (kick off 3pm).

There’s a tour of the club’s TerraPura Ground, an informal chat over tea coffee & biscuits with Hawk’s Vice Chairman and club historian Andy Schofield, a chance to meet the current players, meet new friends, reminisce and remember some of Whitehawk FC’s 74 – year history, and then watch the present day squad as they look to progress in the FA Trophy.

Transport to and from the ground will be provided for those living in the Whitehawk and Bristol Estates for just £1.

Chloe Pardell from Ageing Well Brighton & Hove said:

 “We are so pleased to be working with Hawks In The Community. The Ageing Well service helps people to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing through social groups and activities they enjoy. We feel that the Whitehawk Legends will help so many members of our community meet new people, old friends and get involved in everything that is going on at Whitehawk F.C.

The Ageing Well service is for people living across Brighton and Hove who are 50+. People can now call one phone number or contact us on one email address to find out about activities, trips, befriending, social groups, places to go and advice. The number to reach us on is 01273 322 947 and the email is ageingwellbh@impact-initiatives.org.uk

For Hawks In The Community Kevin Miller, Head of Commercial at Whitehawk FC said;

“This is a fantastic opportunity for some of the older people in the community to visit the club, have a cup of tea and a chat about the old days, meet like-minded people from around the community, and get to watch some excellent football, all for a pound!”

He added: “Hawks In the Community is just that – it’s about all of our community, both young and old. We hope that those who come along can make some new friends, have a great day speaking about their time living within this area, and perhaps come along on a regular basis, knowing that they’ve made a whole new set of friends at their football club! I’d like to thank Chloe and the team at Ageing Well for partnering with us on this, and look forward to welcoming a whole new team of Whitehawk Legends!”

If you have a neighbour, a family member, or someone that you know who may like to come along, and would like to take advantage of transport to and from the club for just £1, please call 01273 322940 to book a place.
