Club Statement: Ross McNeilly

Whitehawk FC can confirm that first team manager Ross McNeilly has resigned from his role with immediate effect. Ross has issued the following statement:

“I want to place on record my thanks to the board for entrusting me with the role as first team manager, and their support throughout.

I have made the decision to resign both for me and in the best interests of the club. I am someone who has always worked full-time in football, and that’s where my skills and interests lie.

I have additional personal reasons that have also made the decision somewhat unavoidable.  I want to thank the fans for welcoming me to the club and their continued support. I am forever grateful.

To my staff and players, what a great group of people, I can assure the fans that your team is in good hands.  I have loved my time at the club and can’t wait to see them be successful this season.”

The club would like to thank Ross for his energy and the contributions he made in rebuilding the first team squad. His hard work and dedication have been greatly appreciated, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

The club is pleased to announce that David Altendorff, formerly our assistant manager, will take over as the new first team manager. David shared the following statement upon his appointment:

“I am excited to take on the role of manager at Whitehawk FC and grateful to the board, especially John and Ned, for their support and for giving me this opportunity. I have immense faith in the players’ ability to climb out of the relegation zone, although it won’t be an overnight fix.

While I plan to bring in just a few new additions to strengthen us, I assure everyone at the club that there won’t be wholesale changes. I want to say to the fans that I am fully committed to the challenge ahead, I understand your frustrations, and your support is crucial as we navigate this challenging period together as a club.

I’m optimistic about our future success this season and beyond, and looking forward to the next match. Thank you for believing in us. Up the Hawks.”

The board is confident that David’s leadership will guide the team through this transition, and the club is committed to working hard to improve our position in the league. We are excited to see David and the squad tackle the challenges ahead.

Further announcements regarding any additional appointments will follow in due course.

This seemed inevitable and fingers crossed for a resurgence. Looking round the ground on Saturday and comparing it others in the same league I was reminded how badly we need investment in the infrastructure Our club is loved but doesn’t look it. .
