The Hawks are pleased to announce the signing of Defender Sam Rents from National League South side Margate FC.

Rents, 28, is no stranger to Brighton and Hove, having been born in the City and started his career with Brighton and Hove Albion, signing a professional contract in 2006 and before his release in 2008, Sam made a total of 37 appearances for The Seagulls. He then made the short move up the A23 to join Crawley Town, who at the time were in the Conference Premier. Whilst with The Red Devils, he made 94 appearances, scoring 6 goals. He also starred alongside current Hawks Scott Neilson and Sergio Torres in a side which stormed to the Conference Premier title in 2011.

Following his release by Crawley, Sam had spells in the non-league with Hayes & Yeading United, Gateshead and Sutton United, before joining his previous club, Margate, in 2014. Sam joins The Hawks following a loan spell earlier this season with Ryman Premier Division side Tonbridge Angels.

We hope you join us in welcoming Sam to The Hawks and back to Brighton!
