Match Report

Sunday 28th December 2014  Vanarama Conference South

Farnborough FC 2 – 0 Whitehawk FC

Whitehawk boss Steve King speaks to BBC Sussex’s Tim Durrans after defeat to Farnborough

“The game should have been over at half time, we missed about six chances, we hit the post – it was one-way traffic, it was an onslaught!”

“Then they score very late in the half, a good finish by the centre forward, it went through a couple of players and slotted it home nicely. From their point of view a great finish – it was.  But the game should have been over, it was the most one-sided game you’ll come to watch.”

How have you handled your players afterwards, it’s not been a bad few weeks for you.  Do you ask your players to step it up now?

“No, No … we’ve been magnificient lately, we’ve won 6, drawn 2 and lost 1 in the last 9 games.  The run we’re on, they’ve been fantastic.”

“We played two days before, Farnborough hadn’t played – they’ve had 10 days where they hadn’t played a game!  Second half we were all over them again, they had a little five minute spell and had a couple of chances – our keeper has made one great save … and then, we are just camped in their half.  We’ve hit the crossbar, we’ve hit the post again.”

A nice break between the 4th-13th january?

    • Mike Lance says:

Yes – the players will need it.

That 13th date could still be affected by the Sussex Senior Cup game, which will have to take precedence.

We’ll post any fixture changes that are made.
