Match Report

Whitehawk and Gloucester City played out a lifeless draw at The TerraPura Ground on Saturday.

The hosts had taken the lead early on through Gold Omotayo, but only for Joe Parker to cancel out the strikers’ effort before the break.

“It was a game that won’t be remembered for long,” confessed Hawks boss Steve King after the game.

“It was tough conditions with the wind and as a result shots were few and far between. A draw was probably the right result.”

Whitehawk took an early lead as Omotayo broke clear after beating a defender, before cutting inside from the right and driving low into the far corner.

The visitors looked to get back into the game as Chris Knowles headed just wide from Ed Williams’ corner before the Tigers drew level 16 minutes in.

Parker managed to run onto a ball in behind and after beating the defence for pace steered the ball low past Daniel Wilks and into the far corner.

Rhys Kavanagh provided a good outlet for the visitors, with the winger using his pace well to get through on goal only to be denied by Wilks.

Nassim L’Ghoul had the best chance for the Hawks, but saw his drive turned around by the post by Exeter-loanee James Hamon.

The second half proved to be a more drab affair, with a rare highlight coming near the death as Kodi Lyons-Foster saw a 25-yard volley fly just wide of the top corner as both teams were made to settle for a point.
