Whitehawk 0 – 3 Hungerford Town

National League South

Saturday 14 October

Three first half goals saw Hungerford Town condemn Whitehawk to back-to-back defeats on Saturday.

It was an uphill battle from the start as the visitors went 2-0 up within nine minutes at the TerraPura, with the Hawks unable to push on after a positive performance against Wealdstone.

The visitors got off to a dream start when Nicholas Bignall got in behind the defence before cutting back across to Paul Stonehouse, who was in front of his marker before slotting into the near corner.

And just nine minutes in Hungerford’s lead was doubled. Brown was given time to put a good ball in which was flicked on by the Hawks’ Marvin Elliott only to beat Simon Jorgensen as the ball found the far corner.

One of the few bright lights for Steve King’s side was Kyjuon Marsh-Brown, who went close twice but was just off target on both occasions.

However, Hungerford went on to go three goals up before the break. Debutant Neil Yadolahi couldn’t head clear and the ball dropped to Brown, who produced an exquisite bicycle kick to find the roof of the net from the edge of the area.

The second half produced little in terms of goalmouth action, with The Crusaders happy to allow the hosts time on the ball.

Enoch Andoh forced Lewis Ward into a smart save before the keeper did well to turn Andoh’s free-kick over the bar.

It could have been worse for the Hawks late on, with Louie Soares blazing high and wide from a good position.
