Whitehawk progressed to the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after a 2-0 win against Southern League side Merthyr Town.
The first action either keeper was called into came just before the 20 minute mark when Reece Connolly beat his man inside the area, but Cameron Clarke did well to turn his effort across goal wide.
The Southern League visitors came close early in the second half when Keyon Reffell drove just wide after the Hawks headed a free kick away, before the game’s opening goal came eleven minutes after the break.
Ben Strevens played the ball out to Ahmed Abdulla, who then crossed in to Connolly whose bullet header found the far corner for his fourth goal of the season.
That forced Merthyr to come out and play, and they came close to equalising with eleven minutes to go when Ian Traylor fired across goal but he found Adri Munoz in good form.
With Town pushing forward, the Hawks made the game safe in stoppage time. Sergio Torres ran on to a long ball, before cutting inside and nutmegging Ben Watkins before firing past Clarke.
