Match Report

Whitehawk boss Andy Woodman was gutted after watching his side conceded a last minute winner against Hungerford.

Danny Mills had put the hosts ahead after the hour mark, but Warren Bentley drew Town level. However, with the Hawks well worth a point, if not all three, it was Hungerford who stole all three points with Luke Williams scoring in added time.

“I’m gutted for the players because I thought we were the better team,” said Woodman.

“We had two or three glaring chances to go two goals up, but then a long ball in the box sees us undo all our hard work.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t get our rewards for what was a dominant display, especially in the first half.”

The Hawks, kicking down the Enclosed Ground slope, made a bright start – with Ramon Marimon, Mike West and debutant Taylor Morgan all going close.

However, they almost went behind early in the second half as Ian Herring forced Marimon to clear off the line, before The Hawks broke the deadlock.

West whipped the ball into the area and picked out Mills, who controlled well before drilling home.

However, their lead lasted just six minutes. Warren Bentley rose highest to meet a ball in from out wide to draw Hungerford level.

Despite that, the Hawks had chances to win it late on, with Ibby Akanbi seeing efforts on goal blocked and eventually firing over, before sub Bradley Woods-Garness dragged wide from point blank range.

But the hosts’ hearts were broken deep in added time, when Williams was first to a long ball and one on one with Lucas Covolan made no mistake.
