A day to remember for Whitehawk fans as Brighton’s second club progress to the First Round Proper –
The mighty Hawks made history on Saturday 24th October 2015 with a two nil victory over high flying Poole Town fc at The Enclosed Ground –
The match was precluded with a minutes silence and applause for Gus McDonnell a long term and much loved Hawks Fan who sadly passed away last week , the clubs condolences go out to Neddy and his family –
The match kicked off with The Hawks playing down hill towards the Din End and facing their incredible fans ‘ The Ultras ‘ swelling in ranks and as loud as ever, with their drums beating and chanting throughout the match , our twelfth man every week –
The Hawks kept up the pressure throughout the first half and peppered the Poole goal with some superb shots that were equalled with some superb saves by Poole Town’s Man of The Match Keeper Hutchings –
Deering had the first decent chance straight from kick off which was tipped away by Hutchings following a nice flick from Danny Mills –
Sadly for Whitehawk in the fifth minute , Striker Jake Robinson went down with what looked like a ligament pull and was replaced by Mendy –
More attempts from Torres and Ihaja before David Martin picked up a yellow for a late challenge on Spetch – Mid way through the first half Poole seemed to find their feet and hit back with some attempts on the Whitehawk Goal but with out troubling Craig Ross too much –
Another header from Danny Mills that went just wide before Spetch was cautioned after taking Deering out on the edge of the Poole Penalty area –
Nick Arnold again tested the Poole defense only to be foiled yet again by Hutchings when his magnificent strike was tipped over the bar – Then on the 40th minute Spetch was shown a red card for a second bookable offence , Poole down to ten men –
On the stroke of half time the ball ended up in the Poole net but was ruled disallowed after an infringement on the keeper, the match incredibly remained 0 – 0 at half time –
Poole got the second half off with a shot on goal which was stopped easily by Ross –
Goal ! The Hawks finally struck in the 47th minute following a cross from Deering and a classic Danny Mills header , the Ultras erupt –
Both Hutchings and Devlin picked up further yellows for Poole and then Gotta picked up a yellow for a late challenge in the 59th minute –
David Ihaja who looked strong in the first half was however replaced on the hour by Ngamvoulou.
Another shot easily saved by Ross from Walkers header before Mills had another goal disallowed on the 73rd minute , this time ruled out for off side –
More chances from Ngamvoulou and Mills respectively –
Another spectacular shot from Ngamvoulou went over the bar on the 84th minute as The Hawks press hard for a second goal – Then a minute from time, more sustained pressure as yet again Hutchings saves Poole by denying Martin from close range .
Then in the last minute of this thrilling encounter Deering slots one past Hutchings from Mills to put the match out of site , Hawks are through to the First Round Proper .
