The Hawks’ National League South fixture today (Saturday 16th January 2016) against Hayes & Yeading United FC was postponed owing to an area of the pitch at The Enclosed Ground being deemed unfit for play by the match referee on his arrival, at around 1.15PM.

We at Whitehawk FC are extremely disappointed that the game was postponed, especially so close to kick-off. For the last couple of days, we have had volunteers working on the pitch to make it playable following our Sussex Senior Cup tie vs Horsham FC last Tuesday. There was a hard overnight frost which affected the pitch, but we strongly believed come 3PM the pitch would be playable, therefore no inspection was planned. However, when the match referee arrived and inspected the playing area, he and his assistants decided the match was unable to be played due to a small area of the pitch which had not yet became playable.

This decision was totally out of the hands of everyone here at Whitehawk FC and we are very much frustrated that this has had to happen and to the fans, players and officials of both The Hawks and Hayes and Yeading United, we apologise for the inconvenience and frustration that this has caused.

A new date for the match will be announced when known. The Hawks will return to action in our Sussex Senior Cup Quarter Final tie at Home to Steyning Town on Tuesday 19th January with a 7.45PM kick-off at The Enclosed Ground.

H&Y supporter just got back after 6hours travelling and spending £35 on Train Fares. How can you say it was out of your hands? If the Pitch was frozen why did you not get a local Ref in, it's not rocket science!
