Saturday 25th July – Pre-season friendly

Hastings United 0 – 1 Whitehawk FC

A beautiful sunny day at the pilot field, the home of Hastings United, was the scene for hawks fourth pre-season friendly.
The first half saw the Hawks wearing their new luminous pink strip, fielding a number promising trialists alongside first team regulars.

Some very promising attacking movements from the hopeful trialists and strong runs from the back by captain Lee Hills saw Hastings pinned in their own half for long passages of play. David Ijaha and new signing Arnaud Mendy were extremely dominant in the middle of the pitch and Sam Deering looked nippy on the wing.

Another new signing Danny Stevens started the second half and proved to be a real handful for the Hastings defence. The Hawks kept the pressure on throughout the second half, until in the 82nd minute when Nick Arnold struck a thunder bolt from outside the box into the top right hand corner of the net, moments before the traveling Hawks fans started a chant of ‘meat pie sausage roll, come on Whitehawk give us a goal!’ Danny Mills also came close deep in the second half seeing his effort blocked by a determined Hastings defence.

All in all, it was a very promising match for the Hawks as the team starts to take shape for the season ahead. Next up are Eastbourne town away at the Saffrons. We hope to see you there!
