Hawks Return To Winning Ways

Whitehawk 3-0 Whitstable Town

Whitehawk returned to winning ways in the BetVictor South East Division with a 3-0 win at home against Whitstable Town.

The Hawks were looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s FA Trophy replay defeat against Hastings United and they made a dream start to the game as after just 3 minutes they were ahead with Marvin Hamilton connecting to an in-swinging David Martin corner to head into the far corner for a 1-0 lead. It got even better for the Hawks just 4 minutes later as the lead was doubled, again with David Martin being the provider. This time he perfectly timed a through ball to Connor Tighe who beat the offside trap to go through on goal and beat Dan Eason in the Whitstable goal. Whitehawk could have easily extended their lead by a few more goals with chances for Henry Muggeridge, David Martin and Marvin Hamilton. A third goal for the Hawks came 5 minutes before half-time with David Martin earning a hat-trick of first-half assists, after his lofted cross was headed home by Tighe for his second goal of the game.

At the break, Whitstable made a double change, looking to get back into the game and they did start the half the brightest with James Broadbent making a great save to deny the Oystermen. The Hawks looked comfortable throughout the second half and were rarely threatened, the best chance coming from captain Tom Bryant who forced a good save from Broadbent, but they were unable to break down a solid Hawks defence who helped see out a crucial 3 points and a well-deserved clean sheet.
