Whitehawk 3-0 Wealdstone
Saturday 9th April 2016
National League South
Whitehawk returned to winning ways on Saturday after easily seeing off Wealdstone 3-0 in a game they dominated from start to finish.
The Hawks were looking to bounce back from a defeat by the same score line, suffered on Tuesday night away to Maidenhead and The Hawks looked set to do that from early on in the game, when Mike West fired a volley at goal, but Wealdstone goalkeeper Jonathan North could only get a hand to the attempt which put Whitehawk 1-0 up.
Things then went from bad to worse for the visitors only 8 minutes later as a defensive error by Bradley Hudson-Odoi saw him lose possession cheaply to David Martin, who passed to Danny Mills to allow him to score his 19th league goal of the season, rounding a helpless North in goal in the process.
The Second Half was a much quieter affair until Alex Osborn was pulled down in the penalty area, which saw referee Daniel Cook award Whitehawk a penalty, which was coolly scored by David Martin. A late rally from Wealdstone ensued with Craig Ross making good saves to deny Scott Davies and substitute Jefferson Louis. The Hawks could have also gone 4-0 up after David Martin brilliantly set up Danny Mills, but he could only scuff the shot wide. The Hawks will now be looking up the table again following the victory and sit 9 points off the playoff places with games in hand still to play, however Wealdstone look set for another season in the National League South.
