Match Report

Bradley Hudson-Odoi scored twice as Hampton & Richmond left The TerraPura Ground with all three points on Saturday.

The Hawks couldn’t have got off to a worse starting, with Christian Jolley giving the visitors the lead inside a minute, before Alan Dowson’s side went into the break three goals up with Hudson-Odoi’s double.

Whilst the Hawks made improvements in the second half, with Marvin Elliott on target after the hour, Steve King’s side were unable to turn the game around.

Hampton went ahead just inside the first minute. The Hawks failed to clear their lines and Jolley’s low effort came off the knee of keeper Simon Jorgensen and into the bottom corner.

Pape Gueye then had a chance for the hosts moments later, but one on one with Sam Howes saw his drive saved well by the keeper.

Jorgensen then saved well to keep out Brendan Kiernan’s rasping effort, before Dowson’s side doubled their lead midway through the first half. Hudson-Odoi was allowed too much time inside the area after some good build up play, and fired past a wrong-footed Jorgensen at his near post.

The Hawks’ misery was compounded before the break, with Jolley allowed to run at the defence before playing through Hudson-Odoi and the forward fired low past the advancing keeper.

There was little to write home about in the second period, with the Hawks grabbing what proved to be a consolation after the hour. Substitute Ermal Hajdari flicked on a free kick into the area and found Elliott, who poked the ball into the far corner.

It could have been four for the visitors, but for some great defending from Liam Gordon to block efforts from Malachi Napa and then Hudson-Odoi.
