Whitehawk 6 Eastbourne Town 0
The Hawks secured their first win of the season in the Sussex Senior Cup 2nd round with a convincing victory over Eastbourne Town. The last time the two teams met in this competition at the Enclosed Ground they shared 12 goals. This time it was Whitehawk who repeated the six goal score line, but without reply.
Manager Steve King said before the game that he intended to field his strongest line-up. He gave a debut to Ibrahim Fofana and first starts to Nassim L’Ghoul and Simon Mensah. New keeper Seny Dieng made his home debut after an assured start at the weekend. Ermal Hajdari played as a central striker, with Enoch Andoh alongside him. The new partnership paid off, with the two strikers sharing all six goals.
After an even start with both teams passing the ball well, The Hawks took control of the match with 3 goals in a 10 minute spell. Andoh netted from close range after 27 minutes and Hajdari then added a second with a blistering drive into the bottom corner from just outside the box. It was soon 3-0, as Andoh finished off another slick move, this time involving Liam Gordon and Fofana down the left.
Any hopes Town had of a second half revival were soon put to bed, as Andoh completed his hat-trick within minutes of the re-start. The Hawks were now attacking a very noisy Din End, featuring both sets of Ultras singing in unison.
Hajdari and Andoh added further goals from close-range round the hour mark, with Town having little answer to the incisive passing and movement of the Hawks attack.
4-goal Andoh was replaced with just under 30 minutes remaining by Hawks Youth midfielder Rob Deda, making his debut in the senior side. David Ijaha and Ky Marsh-Brown also gained playing time from the bench as The Hawks coasted to a comfortable Halloween night win.
