Whitehawk FC 1 – 0 Ebbsfleet United FC
(Sankofa 12 mins)
Sankofa seals it against his old side.
Whitehawk had most of the chances in the first half and on balance of play were well worth their 1-0 halftime lead and eventually ran out worthy winners.
The home side had chances from as early as the first minute when a Sergio Torres knock down so nearly crossed the line.
On 12 minutes a Whitehawk free kick from Sam Deering was met strongly by Ebbsfleet old boy Osei Sankofa’s header for the goal.
For Whitehawk Sam Deering, John-Paul Kissock and Danny Mills were all involved in good moves up to the break and Sergio Makofo was always giving Ebbsfleet problems.
Sankofa ‘scored’ what appeared to be a goal on the half hour, but it was disallowed.
One goal was a slim lead against fancied Ebbsfleet who had Matt Godden’s goalbound shot glancing off the far post in the last minute of the first half.
HT Whitehawk 1 – 0 Ebbsfleet
On 57 minutes a Charlie Sherringham header for Ebbsfleet went just over the bar from a cross by the dangerous Anthony Cook, as Ebbsfleet tried to increase the pressure, the visitors enjoyed a short period of good pressure.
For Whitehawk Lee Hills and Tom Cadmore both hit great crossfield balls to switch play and keep the visitors on the back foot.
As in the final minutes of the first half – Ebbsfleet again went very close when substitute Billy Bicknell hit the post.
