Whitehawk FC 1 – 1 Farnborough FC
Manager Steve King interviewed after the game.
Whitehawk started the game looking for their fourth consecutive win while Farnborough were looking for their third win ‘on the spin’.
Whitehawk had most of the play in the first half and by the half hour mark chances started to come. Lee Hills runs on the left wing started to open up the visitors and Danny Mills and Serge Mokofo both had chances.
Whitehawk defender Paul Lorraine headed over the visitors goal on 32 minutes as Farnborough survived again.
It was Lorraine again who glanced on a cross into the path of full back Lee Hills who opened the scoring on 43 minutes.
Serge Makofo could have doubled the lead on 52 minutes when his jinking run got him close in, he chose to shoot and struck it well, but just over the bar.
The best flowing move of the game involved the busy Whitehawk midfield of Sergio Torres, Sam Deering and JP Kissock but Danny Mills hesitated just enough for the Farnborough defence to clear up.
The visiting keeper’s punches to clear from the tall Mill were effective, as Farnborough piled numbers behind the ball.
With time running out Farnborough started to commit numbers forward.
In truth they had barely any chances in the came. But they went close on 75 minutes when Matt Ball’s shot was just wide.
On 81 minutes a terrific cross from Lee Hills found Danny Mills whose close range header nestled just on top of the netting.
On 89 minutes Farnborough proved that you only need 1 chance. In a crowded goalmouth substitute Joe Taylor managed to slid the ball under Hawks’ keeper John Sullivan. The Hawks having their appeals for a foul in the lead up had their appeals waved away.
