Match Report

Vanarama Conference South             Saturday 7th February 2015

Whitehawk FC 3 – 0 Boreham Wood FC

2014-15 v B'wood-15

An emphatic home win over the league leaders, who drop to second after this result.  Whitehawk maintain their 3rd place.

Whitehawk went into a 2 goal lead after only 12 minutes in this top of the table clash.

Jake Robinson scored the first goal on 7 minutes and added a second 5 minutes later. For the first goal he ‘pulled the ball out of the sky’ with a sublime touch and ‘nutmegged’ the Boreham Wood centre half and literally smashed the ball into the roof of the net – all this from a tight angle!

The second goal, Sam Deering picked up the ball on the centre line and drove through the Wood half before slipping the ball to Jake Robinson to run on to, Robinson rounded the keeper and slotted it home from an angle for another fantastic goal.

5 minutes before the break Nick Arnold finished a good move involving Sam Deering who was out on the left and then cut in and went past Boreham Wood defenders and set Nick Arnold on the coner of the penalty area. Arnold finished the move by firmly side-footing the ball across the Boreham Wood keeper James Russell, low into the far corner.

It could have been 4 goals when Danny Mills got himself one-on-one with the keeper but decided to go around him instead of shooting.

HT 3- 0

Whitehawk continued to create chances in the second half and Boreham Wood came back into the game a little more and had more possesion.  The visitors made a triple substitution and went with two strikers, having only employed one in the first half. Although Boreham Wood continued to probe forward Tom Cadmore, David Ijaha and Osei Sankofa were all resolute in defence.

Jake Robinson, looking for his hat-trick had a one-on-one with the visiting keeper and fired just wide of the post.

Danny Mills, from 25 yards out, on the left, cut inside and sent a terrific goalbound shot that seemed destined for the net, Russell in the Wood goal fingertipped the ball away with fantastic save.

Whitehawk were happy to see the game out and the home supporters were happy too, as they surrrounded the exit from the pitch and cheered the team off.
